Gran Fondo Bogotá, a race sponsored by ISB SPORT, became the first cycling competition through the streets of Bogotá. It took place on November 17 and was organized by Cycla, with the support of Egan Bernal and the necessary support of local authorities.
It was a historic milestone, since the capital of Colombia is one of the cities where cycling is practiced most frequently, and the Strava segment of the climb to Alto de Patios is one of the most frequented in the world; 2.7 million efforts made by 110,000 users.
Some 5,500 participants were persuaded to participate in this GF Bogotá, which had 115 km and 1,800 meters of elevation gain. It was a national holiday, since 90% of the participants were from the country. With a host like Egan Bernal, and luxury guests led by Rigoberto Urán or Mariana Pajón, in addition to several of the Colombian cyclists currently competing in the elite, the event was going to put Colombia in the spotlight of the cycling scene. Mónica Calderón and Diana Pinilla participated as ambassadors of ISB SPORT.
